The following topics were devised by the teaching staff and Leadership Team during the Summer Term 2005.
The overviews here have been devised to ensure that there is full coverage of all of the National Curriculum Programmes of Study for Science, History, Geography, Art and design and Design and technology. Where appropriate, other curriculum links have been made (e.g. to P.E., Music or R.E.). Individual teachers produce their medium term plans around these overviewa and where appropriate, QCA documents can be used to supplement planning (though they do not need to form the basis of topic lessons). Whilst Science forms an integral (sometimes central) part of many topics, this still needs to be taught as a discrete subject.
When devising these topics, teachers made sure that all of the NC Programmes of Study for key stages one and two were covered, thus ensuring full coverage of knowledge, skills and understanding and Breadth of study for each subject listed above. Examples and suggestions from the NC document (in grey type) can be used if desired.
